The average cost of car insurance in Texas is $1,5002 per year. That’s around the national average. Of course, your auto insurance cost will depend on many different factors including your age, where you live, and your driving history.
Texas law only requires that you carry car insurance that protects others in the event you cause bodily harm or property damage to them. It is often referred to as “liability insurance,” and it is important to understand that this coverage does not cover you, your car, or your personal belongings.
As shown in the table above, drivers must have a car insurance policy that covers at minimum $30,000 of coverage for injuries per person and $60,000 per accident, and $25,000 for property damage per accident. You might see this described as 30/60/25.
